My story
My artistic journey started when I was a little girl in Iran. Inspired by the trips my family and I would take to the natural surroundings outside our concrete city, I picked up a paintbrush at just eight years old, thus starting a life-long obsession.
This obsession morphed into 10 years of art school, leading to a career in graphic design and an insatiable need to travel the world. I first landed in Turkey and now am lucky to call Vancouver home. Threads of my travels and life experiences, combined with a flourishing and sometimes bizarre imagination, inspire every piece of work I create.
As my skills improved and the breadth of artistic mediums I undertook expanded, Poonjee was born. From watercolour and acrylic paints to clay sculpture and digital art, my need for creative expression isn't limited to one area; that would be far too boring.
Poonjee is a name born from the fusion of my very own name 'Pooneh' and the inviting warmth of the colour orange in Persian, 'Narenjee.' Orange is my favourite colour; it's a colour that's both inviting and, under certain circumstances, dangerous. It's as bright and complex as my mind.
